Following on the success of "Mamma Mia" night in May, The FCC is gearing up for an encore performance celebrating the "King of Pop."
The FCC Rooftop will come alive with a special tribute to Michael Jackson on Aug. 22.
"Nobody has done anything," says Benjamin Le Grand, restaurant manager at The FCC. "We are putting together a really great night — dinner, a show and then dancing."
In its tribute to the renowned pop star who recently died, The FCC will work off a format similar to its successful "Mamma Mia" night, a tribute the 70s pop band ABBA.
"The response to 'Mamma Mia' was unbelievable," says Le Grand. "We got emails from people saying that it was the best night they ever had in Phnom Penh."
The tribute to Jackson begins at 6 p.m. with video projections — music videos and movies clips — on two large-screen displays.
"It's a good way to get started," says Le Grand. "You can have dinner and watch the videos."
After dinner, a dance performance is scheduled with local and international dancers. Then, starting at about 9 p.m., DJ Felipe from Spain will take over the deejay booth and play music inspired by Jackson for the rest of the night.
"It's not going to be all Michael Jackson," says Le Grand. "Felipe will play a lot of disco and funk, too, stuff you can sing and dance to. But Michael Jackson will be the star of the night."
