Phnom Penh looked a lot different 20 years ago. Cambodia was in turmoil, amid a conflict between government forces and the Khmer Rouge. The only real foreigners in the country were soldiers and other civilian employees working with the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia, which arrived on a year-and-a-half mission in May 1992 to oversee the Kingdom's elections. Images of that time were captured by Dr. Margitta Oschilewski, a physician serving with UNTAC under the German army medical corps, and Frank Meinold, a German freelance photographer. Their photos will be on display through October at the FCC Phnom Penh.

Filipino singer-songwriter Juram Gavero delights crowds with an energetic blend of smoky, soulful vocals and guitar-driven acoustic rock. Based in Saigon, Juram has in recent years become something of a regular on the Phnom Penh live music scene, and he has steadily built a loyal following. The Filipino native plays mostly rock 'n' roll classics, but like every good musician, he is well-versed in the standards of other genres as well. He is comfortable playing everything from Johnny Cash to Metallica. "Music is my passion," he says. "If the sound is right, and I am sitting with the right people, I can play until morning."
