The FCC placed 27th out of 35 boats at the Water Festival in Siem Reap last month.
The placement marks a new record for the fledgling boat team, which launched its first boat at the annual races in 2007.
"At least we didn't sink," laughed Ben Janclose, The FCC Angkor general manager, recalling that in years past the team has not always been so lucky.
In 2008, for instance, The FCC's boat capsized on the first day of races.
The days leading up to the festival and the two days of racing always make for a great party, Janclose said. Friends and family members make up the boat's crew of 32. The team really enjoys the competition, and their enthusiasm is often infectious.
"The clients get into it too," Janclose said. "We rent the garden and put up a bar and everyone has a good time. I'd say 150 people came out to support us this year."
